Bike to the Moon is an annual PKD Foundation of Canada global bikeathon. Collectively, we aim to bike the distance to the moon (384,400 km) and raise funds for critical Canadian PKD research within the Hereditary Kidney Disease Program at Toronto General Hospital.
Bike to the Moon 2018 hit our record-setting $25,000 goal! Read the full campaign summary on our blog.
How do I participate?
Bike to the Moon is an event that is perfect for both casual and serious cyclists. Plan your ride solo, rally a group of friends together or create a local event. Choose a route in your own community or spend the weekend exploring new territories! Check back in the New Year for full details about participating in the 2019 Bike to the Moon.
How many kilometres do I need to ride?
Whether you bike 1 km on one day or 400 km over four days, every dollar raised and every kilometre cycled brings us closer to the ultimate finish line: A cure for PKD.

The beginning: In 2016, an Ontario family impacted by PKD for generations got together with their friends to bike the Bruce Trail in an effort to raise money for PKD research. They travelled 480 km and raised over $11,000.
Today: The PKD Foundation of Canada has adopted Bike to the Moon to enable those all over Canada affected by PKD to participate in the ride and achieve even greater fundraising goals. With every new year, the ride will help the PKD Foundation of Canada move closer to its goal of finding more treatments and a cure for those living with PKD.
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is one of the most common life-threatening genetic diseases affecting thousands in Canada. You can have an impact on all those affected by this disease by organizing a ride and by creating your virtual fundraising page where you can join others in the fight to end PKD!
If you are unable to ride this year, there is still a lot you can do to help! Volunteer to raise funds for Bike to the Moon by setting up a virtual donation page to support the ride's fundraising efforts, or help promote awareness and education by sharing pamphlets about PKD in your community.
