Canada Cares was started with the idea to ensure that Canada’s charities could continue to support their community. 

We are calling for the federal government to implement a 1:1 donation matching program to sustain the charitable sector across the country. A matching fund has the capacity to double the impact of donations made by ordinary Canadians, empowering the charitable sector to survive COVID-19 and thrive beyond the pandemic. 

We’re asking Canadians from coast to coast to coast to raise their voices, share their stories, and call for a sustainable future for the charitable sector. As charities continue to join our campaign each day, our efforts now turn to welcoming additional community members. We need your help with inviting Canadians who support charities just like yours to add their voice to the campaign. We want to make sure elected officials hear directly from their local constituents about a donation matching fund and its potential to support the charitable sector. 

How To Get Involved:

1.  Join the Canada Cares campaign here. Once you enter your information, email templates to send to your local government will auto-generate or you have the option to customize your emails as well. Tell your government how a 1:1 matching program would benefit you and the charities you care about most!

2. Share the Canada Cares campaign message with your friends and family on social media with the resources provided in the marketing toolkit here.  Don't forget to follow and tag @theCanadaCares on Facebook and @CanadaCares_ on Twitter! With a diverse set of voices, MPs and decision-makers in government will be compelled to pay attention and act.
