The PKD Foundation of Canada was proud to host it's second annual Virtual PKD Summit this November! The summit consisted of 4 evenings with educational events catered towards PKD patients and their loved ones, on November 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th.

About the Speakers:
Dr. Matthew Lanktree
Dr. Matt Lanktree is a clinician-scientist, assistant professor, and medical director of the McMaster Kidney Genetics Clinic, caring for patients with chronic and end-stage kidney disease at St. Joseph Healthcare Hamilton and McMaster University. Dr. Lanktree has published extensively on genetics and kidney disease and has received peer review funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Canadian and American Societies of Nephrology, and was recently awarded the Canadian Society of Nephrology New Investigator Award. Matt has set his goal to use genetics to improve the care of patients with polycystic kidney disease.
Harvey Mysel
Harvey is a 2-time kidney transplant recipient. After proactively managing an inherited kidney condition, PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) for over 20 years he had his first kidney transplant in February 2007. He was fortunate that his wife Amy was a compatible donor.
Harvey contracted a virus, (BK Virus,) 2 years after his transplant and after years of battling this virus, in August 2012 he had his second kidney transplant. Harvey and his donor, Stephen Liegghio, who was introduced to Harvey by an advocate, were involved in a 3-way kidney paired exchange.
To help those in need of a kidney transplant, LKDN developed an online program: “Having Your Donor Find YOU!”
