DIY fundraisers are a great way to make your support go farther in the fight to #endPKD. The #DIY2ENDPKD campaign encourages PKDFOC supporters to put a personized spin on fundraising to support programs of critical PKD research, education and advocacy. PKD Foundation of Canada's Edmonton Chapter Coordinator, Sonia Chies, has become well-versed in running DIY fundraisers and offers some insight below!

"I am always looking for unique ways to raise money for the PKD Foundation of Canada- Edmonton Chapter.  My friend approached me last year and told me she would donate 10% of her handcrafted jewellery to support my cause. Although, we only raised a small amount, it opened the door to more opportunities.  I paired up with Epicure and once again, was able to raise some money.  I truly believe all of the posts I make on Facebook about PKD  led me to my friends, Riki and Roy to take notice.  They saw how dedicated I am to PKD research so they offered  to graciously donate all of their sales from their handmade pottery/ ceramics to help the Foundation.  Riki made a good point.  She said that people tend to support artists, and small business when they are supporting a cause.  Not only do I get to showcase an artist or small business, it helps spread awareness about PKD, and I get to meet new faces!  There are so  many ways to raise money, but I find that pairing with individuals and showcasing their talents helps me with my cause.  People get to walk away with a piece of jewellery, some lovely spices/ cookware or even a unique piece of artwork all while supporting the PKD Foundation of Canada."
