As 2024 comes to a close, we invite you to join us for a special PKD Mind Matters chat focused on grounding and centring tools for individuals living with chronic pain or symptoms of polycystic kidney disease (PKD).
This session will be facilitated by Joy Pekar, a compassionate and knowledgeable Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Joy recently presented on "Mental Health and PKD" at the 2024 PKD Summit, and has a personal connection to PKD - her husband and late mother-in-law were both diagnosed with the condition.
The meeting will include time to talk about mental health, chronic kidney disease, and the holiday season, as well as an opportunity to participate in a guided meditation using techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
This evidence-based approach can help individuals feel more present and grounded. It can make space for difficult emotions without judgment.
Participants will learn how focusing on the present moment and aligning with their values might help greater clarity and purpose, in the face of ongoing challenges.
This is an opportunity to connect with others who understand your journey and learn tools that could support your emotional well-being.
