3_Pillars.png

Driven by our mission, the PKD Foundation of Canada focuses on three key pillars to make a lasting impact:

  1. Education and support for those affected by PKD
  2. Awareness and advocacy to expand understanding of PKD in the broader community, and seek improved care and access to treatments.
  3. Funding the most promising research into better treatments, improved disease management and, ultimately, a cure.

The Path Forward

Enhancing Family Support Systems

We are dedicated to offering full support to families and caregivers affected by PKD. Our goals include providing specialized resources and creating safe spaces for individuals and families to connect, share their experiences, and find the support they need.

Equitable Access to Care and Treatment

We will strengthen our efforts to advocate for fair access to essential healthcare services. This includes pushing for increased funding and support for critical treatments and services.

Supporting Living Donors and PKD Patients

We will continue to promote the vital importance of organ donation and transplantation, collaborating closely with transplant services to build strong support networks for both PKD patients and donors. Through focused outreach, education, and community engagement, we aim to increase understand and acceptance of organ donation.

Supporting PKD Mental Health

We will continue to build on the feedback and insights shared by PKD patients and caregivers during out 2024 PKD Mind Matters Chats and other virtual programs, strengthening mental health resources and supports for all stages of the PKD journey.
